COURTHOUSE,
\n Feb 20 \u2013 A man from Jamaica
\n who entered the US through
\n Otay Mesa, California then was
\n arrested in New York with a
\n gun with the serial number
\n filed off was indicted on
\n August 13 in the U.S. District
\n Court for the Southern
\n District of New York, which
\n Inner City Press closely
\n covers. The case was assigned
\n to Judge John G. Koeltl. <\/p>\n

\u00a0 The
\n complaint back in July said
\n the stop was based on no
\n license plate on his
\n motorcycle on 233rd Street in
\n The Bronx.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Then they
\n found the Luger, which in the
\n Complaint has its filed-off
\n serial number circled. <\/p>\n

The defendant
\n said he had bought it for
\n $300. He has previously been
\n served in person with a Notice
\n to Appear. <\/p>\n

On February 11,
\n 2026 the US Attorney’s Office
\n wrote in that they obtained a
\n superseding indictment for gun
\n in a school zone, and are
\n dropping the alien charges.
\n The defense still wants the
\n trial to proceed on February
\n 23.<\/p>\n

On February 17
\n the US Attorney’s Office
\n objected to the defendant’s
\n proposal for asking jurors
\n what they believe is “the most
\n difficult problem facing our
\n country today,” saying it is
\n likely to prompt jurors to
\n reveal their political
\n affiliation.<\/p>\n

Inner City Press
\n went to Judge Koeltl’s
\n conference on February 20. He
\n asked Gordon if he really
\n wanted to go to trial so soon
\n after the superseding
\n indictment, and was told Yes.
\n Thereafter he ruled on motions
\n in limine ranging from Gordon
\n having said he was wearing a
\n ski mask because he was cold,
\n to an attempt to bar as a
\n witness a woman who live in
\n the same building as Gordon,
\n describing how close the
\n school was.<\/p>\n

The trial is
\n still set to start Monday,
\n February 23.<\/p>\n
