SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Taylor Chillingworth<\/a> walked it off against Manhattan (3-7, 0-0 MAAC) with a single to lead San Jos\u00e9 State softball (2-10, 0-0 MW) in a 3-2 victory and an 4-0 loss to Sacramento State (11-2, 0-0 Big Sky) in the second day of the Mustang Classic on Friday from Bob Janssen Field.<\/p>\n

GAME ONE: San Jos\u00e9 State 3, Manhattan 2\u00a0<\/p>\n

San Jos\u00e9 State delivered late-game heroics in the opener, scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to secure its first walk-off victory of the season.<\/p>\n

After Manhattan tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the sixth, the Spartans kept their composure and relied on timely hitting and steady pitching to stay within striking distance.<\/p>\n

In the decisive seventh inning, Samantha Kulak<\/a> reached on an error and advanced into scoring position. Following a groundout,\u00a0Chillingworth delivered the game-winning RBI single through the left side, plating the unearned run and sealing the 3-2 victory.<\/p>\n

Chillingworth finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs, including the walk-off knock.\u00a0Samantha Blachly<\/a> also drove in a run, while the Spartans capitalized on aggressive baserunning in the second inning to build an early 2-0 lead.<\/p>\n

Delaney Faus<\/a> had a career and season high outing, going 6.2 innings pitched with four strikeouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

GAME TWO: Sacramento State 4, San Jos\u00e9 State 0<\/p>\n

In the nightcap, Sacramento State used a pair of two-run innings to claim the 4-0 victory.<\/p>\n

The Hornets struck for two runs in the second and added two more in the fifth, capitalizing on timely hitting and controlling the tempo throughout the game. Sacramento State tallied 12 hits, while the Spartans were limited to four.<\/p>\n

Ahmiya Noriega<\/a> and Sarah Deplitch<\/a> each recorded a hit, while Noriega reached base twice. San Jos\u00e9 State threatened in the early innings but was unable to convert with runners in scoring position.<\/p>\n

Coulsell took the loss in the circle, throwing five innings before Jordyn Fray<\/a> closed out the final two frames in relief.<\/p>\n
