LEXINGTON, Va. \u2014 Sophomore Evan Peters<\/a> won the men’s 500 free and fellow sophomore Cameron Stetzer<\/a> repeated as the 200 IM champion, highlighting Binghamton’s performance during the second day of the America East Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday at the VMI Aquatic Center.<\/p>\n Halfway through the meet, the Bearcat men’s squad remained within striking distance of UMBC for first place out of six teams. They have 280 points compared to the Retrievers’ 300 points. On the women’s side, Binghamton climbed up to fifth place out of seven teams.<\/p>\n After placing second in the 500 free last year, Peters clocked a winning time of 4:25.84. He was part of a strong quartet of Bearcat finalists, which also included junior Harrison Lambert<\/a> in fourth place (4:28.94), senior Liam Preston<\/a> in sixth place (4:30.21) and sophomore Will Deutmeyer in eighth place (4:38.18). In addition, sophomore Finnegan McFarland<\/a> won the B finals to place ninth overall (4:29.90).<\/p>\n Stetzer, meanwhile, had to knock over a second off of his winning time last year. His first-place time was 1:47.46 compared to 1:48.71 in 2025. Winning the B finals of the 200 IM was junior Jackson Kennard<\/a> (1:49.76).<\/p>\n Senior Maria Pignatelli<\/a> was the Bearcat women’s top performer on Thursday night. She was fourth in the 50 free (23.20) and led off the fourth-place 200 free relay team that broke its own school record. The other three members of that Bearcat quartet were junior Ava Olsian<\/a> as well as freshmen Elle Gerbes<\/a> and Lauren Maierle<\/a>. Their time of 1:33.28 broke the previous mark of 1:33.35 that they set earlier in the season at the Cleveland State\/Magnus Cup meet (Nov. 20-22).\u00a0<\/p>\n Maierle also broke her own freshman record in the 50 free with a time of 23.59. She was 11th overall in that event on Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n Senior Elizabeth Tirado<\/a> was fifth in the women’s three-meter diving competition with a score of (215.05). She concludes her weekend with a pair of finals appearances, having placed seventh in the one-meter event on Wednesday.<\/p>\n Binghamton’s other A finalist on Thursday evening was sophomore Ryaan Alshami<\/a>, who was seventh in the 50 free (20.40).<\/p>\n Day three of the America East Swimming & Diving Championships starts Friday at 10 a.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n TOP MEN’S FINISHERS TOP WOMEN’S FINISHERS \u00a0
