{"id":141216,"date":"2026-02-21T20:25:17","date_gmt":"2026-02-21T20:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/141216\/"},"modified":"2026-02-21T20:25:17","modified_gmt":"2026-02-21T20:25:17","slug":"new-york-rangers-f-matt-rempe-to-be-placed-on-ir-after-second-procedure-on-injured-thumb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/141216\/","title":{"rendered":"New York Rangers F Matt Rempe to be placed on IR after second procedure on injured thumb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/new-york-rangers\/3\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/new-york-rangers\/3\" target=\"_blank\">New York Rangers<\/a> forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/matt-rempe\/8482460\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/matt-rempe\/8482460\" target=\"_blank\">Matt Rempe<\/a> is going to be placed on Injured Reserve after having a second procedure on his injured thumb, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">As Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports, the team will continue to evaluate his recovery and have not ruled him out for the season at this point.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The injury was suffered in a fight with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/ryan-reaves\/8471817\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/player\/ryan-reaves\/8471817\" target=\"_blank\">Ryan Reaves<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/san-jose-sharks\/28\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/nhl\/team-page\/san-jose-sharks\/28\" target=\"_blank\">San Jose Sharks<\/a> earlier in the season, and caused Rempe to miss 24 games. He returned for a month and a half, but will now take more time to get fully healthy as the Rangers sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings at 22-29-6.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Rempe, 23, has one goal in 26 games this season.
