NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2014 Alternate side parking is suspended on Monday due to the nor\u2019easter <\/a>expected to dump up to two feet of snow in New York City, officials said.<\/p>\n

The parking meters, however, will still be in effect.<\/p>\n

Mayor Zohran Mamdani has also issued a travel ban <\/a>in New York City beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday and ending at noon on Monday.<\/p>\n

A state of emergency has been declared for New York City, meaning highways and bridges will be closed to all vehicles.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are asking New Yorkers to avoid all non-essential travel,\u201d Mamdani said.<\/p>\n

New York City and Long Island are under a\u00a0blizzard warning<\/a>\u00a0from Sunday morning until Monday morning, with 18 to 24 inches of snow possible for much of the region, PIX11 meteorologists say.<\/p>\n

The governors of New York and New Jersey issued\u00a0states of emergency ahead of the snowstorm<\/a>, which is also expected to bring wind gusts up to 55 mph. Officials urged residents to\u00a0stay home and off the roads<\/a>.<\/p>\n
