DALLAS \u2014 Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is leading a business delegation visit to New York City alongside the city manager and other local business leaders to help spotlight “Y’all Street.”<\/a><\/p>\n Originally scheduled for departure on Feb. 25, the trip is being postponed due to ongoing extreme weather in the Northeast. The delegation is expected to meet with local executives to highlight Dallas as a place for innovation and investment, particularly in financial services.<\/p>\n \u201cEconomic development is a competition. Dallas is competing with America\u2019s other major cities, like New York, for the investment of premier businesses and financial institutions,\u201d Johnson said in a statement. \u201cEvery member of this delegation is determined to win that competition.\u201d<\/p>\n But Johnson also said this visit is about more than business.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen we bring new investment, new businesses, and new jobs to Dallas, it creates genuine economic opportunity for all our residents,” he added.<\/p>\n A number of financial institutions have invested into Dallas, such as Goldman Sachs and Scotiabank. Both are bringing new buildings to the city that will house thousands of employees.<\/p>\n But the city has also seen its share of business loss recently following the announcement that AT&T would be moving its headquarters from its downtown location to a new site in Plano.<\/p>\n The\u00a0New York Stock Exchange launched NYSE Texas in 2025<\/a>, a fully electronic equities exchange based in Dallas, calling the city \u201cone of the nation\u2019s fastest growing business hubs.\u201d Lynn Martin, president of NYSE Group, said Texas is \u201cthe state with the largest number of NYSE listings, representing over $3.7 trillion in market value,\u201d and praised its \u201cpro-business atmosphere.\u201d<\/p>\n
