The city says starting Friday, e-bike and e-scooter riders will have a 15-mph speed limit on New York City streets. Officials say this is a compromise between allowing riders to get around and keeping pedestrians and other riders safe.<\/p>\n
It comes just weeks after a woman was hit and killed by an e-bike in Clinton Hill. <\/p>\n
News 12 spoke with some people who think the limits will improve safety. But riders like Shazad Ismaily are hesitant about the new limits.<\/p>\n
\u201cI tend to enjoy riding in the range of 17-20 mph all the time. I want to get there as efficiently and quickly as possible. I’m going to be honest with you – here’s what I think – how are you going to enforce such a thing?” said Ismaily. <\/p>\n
