A construction worker died after he fell 60 feet into a massive ditch at a work site at Hudson Yards on Thursday morning, the FDNY said.<\/p>\n
The employee was working on a freshly poured foundation wall \u2013 part of the massive Hudson Yards Concrete Casing project \u2013 at 12th Avenue and West 30th Street when he tragically plummeted into the excavated ditch around 8:50 a.m., officials said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Firefighters rushed to the scene within three minutes, according to Battalion Chief Anthony Romano.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The construction worker fell down the 60-foot hole at the 12th Avenue and West 30th Street site around 8:50 a.m., officials said.\u00a0 Robert Miller<\/p>\n

\u201cWe encountered a construction worker at the bottom of the pit, 60 feet down,\u201d Russo said.<\/p>\n
First responders quickly realized the worker had no pulse and wasn\u2019t breathing, according to the chief.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey set up a highpoint anchor and lowered a stokes basket,\u201d Russo said. \u201cAnd about 5 to 10 minutes after that, they raised the victim up and immediately transferred him off to FDNY EMS, who provided further care.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Work on the third section of the project \u2013 intended to link the Hudson River Tunnel into New York Penn Station \u2013 was suspended while the incident remains under investigation.\u00a0<\/p>\n
