Kathy Hochul included $1.5 billion in new funding for hospitals and nursing homes in her executive budget proposal, but she didn\u2019t specify how to divide the money up.<\/p>\n<p>The New York State Health Facilities Association, which represents the state\u2019s nursing homes and other providers of long-term care, is advocating for half that money be allocated to nursing homes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The greater context here is that hospitals are having trouble discharging patients to nursing homes because nursing home operators receive such low reimbursement rates from state Medicaid.<\/p>\n<p>The issue is causing a backlog, according to Stephen Hanse, president of the New York State Health Facilities Association and the New York state Center for Assisted Living.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hanse joined Capital Tonight\u2019s Susan Arbetter to discuss the situation facing the state\u2019s 98,000 nursing home beds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/nys-capital-tonight-time-graphic-promo960x540jpgjpg.jpeg\" class=\"hashed-image\" img-data-alignment=\"center\" img-data-width=\"percent-fifty\" alt=\"\" img-data-wrap-text=\"false\" img-data-editing=\"true\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Gov.
