TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – A third loss on the season would be Manhattan\u2019s most since 2020. But the Tribe are still taking things one week at a time.<\/p>\n
\u201cControl what we can control, we need to do what we can to get the victory,\u201d Manhattan head coach Joe Schartz told 13 Sports.<\/p>\n
Injuries have been a big story for Manhattan this season. Schartz says its something his team continues to work through.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s part of the game, and when somebody goes down another guy\u2019s gotta step up,\u201d Schartz said. \u201cSo some young kids have stepped up and we\u2019ve continued to progress through the season.\u201d<\/p>\n
Washburn Rural wants to regain it\u2019s confidence following their 2nd loss of the season. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere was a little frustration about last week\u2019s game with all our guys,\u201d Washburn Rural head coach Steve Buhler told 13 Sports. \u201cI think they\u2019re looking forward to the chance to prove to everyone that we\u2019re still a good football team at 5-2. Manhattan\u2019s a great program, so it\u2019s a good way to come back off a loss and get focused on a good football team.\u201d<\/p>\n
With one week to go before the postseason, staying healthy is at the top of the priority list.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe big thing is to play hard and get out of the game healthy, but also get out with a sense of purpose and direction for us going into the next week,\u201d Buhler said.<\/p>\n
Manhattan beat Washburn Rural, 56-14, in last year\u2019s game. <\/p>\n
