Each selected organization can receive up to $5,000 in matching funds, distributed on a reimbursement basis, for events taking place before May 31, 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Community baby showers, organized by local groups, provide families with essential supplies such as diapers, wipes, blankets and breast pumps, while also connecting parents to city agencies and local organizations offering ongoing support.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-239002 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/54661361948_d6c35fdf8e_b.jpg\" alt=\"baby shower \" width=\"525\" height=\"700\"  \/>The community baby showers offer parents key postnatal supplies, like baby wipes and breast pumps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrooklynites thrive when their community shows up for them, and pregnancy and early parenthood are no different,\u201d Reynoso said in a statement. \u201cCommunity baby showers are so impactful because, beyond distributing essential baby supplies, they foster support networks that parents can lean on, right in their own neighborhoods.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s awardees include:\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>Brownsville Community Center, serving Brownsville<br \/>\nHolding Hands Ministries, serving Coney Island<br \/>\nKiwanis Kings Plaza &amp; Canarsie, serving Canarsie<br \/>\nLife Equip Group, serving East New York and Brownsville<br \/>\nNew Neighbors Partnership Association, serving Flatbush and Midwood<br \/>\nNuestros Ni\u00f1os Daycare Center, serving Williamsburg<br \/>\nPublic Housing Community Fund, serving Bed-Stuy<\/p>\n<p>The fund is part of Reynoso\u2019s broader maternal health agenda. Over the past two decades, Black women in New York City were on average <a href=\"https:\/\/nyhealthfoundation.org\/resource\/complications-of-childbirth-racial-ethnic-disparities-in-severe-maternal-morbidity-in-new-york-state\/?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=20987954776&amp;gbraid=0AAAAADzLD3jvP-PrNSqDq4V3yVZYzKZIT&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiA-__MBhAKEiwASBmsBLX_cjNqhQypqUfp8zqkoXA3U76pZeQCi5hd4GTRpl3TSztK9uFgFxoCzSkQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">eight<\/a> times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than their white counterparts. Since taking office in Jan. 2021, Reynoso has focused <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynbp.nyc.gov\/maternal-health-agenda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">significant<\/a> resources on addressing that disparity. In his first year, he allocated his entire $45 million capital budget to Brooklyn\u2019s three public hospitals for maternal health improvements.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-239004 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/54663636908_944310d0d2_h.jpg\" alt=\"baby shower\" width=\"469\" height=\"700\"  \/>Awarded grant total $5,000.
