MANHATTAN, Kan. (KWCH) – Kansas FFA is marking National FFA Week with Give FFA Day, a 24-hour fundraising event aimed at raising $50,000 to benefit student chapters, fellowships, grants and agricultural education instructors across the state.<\/p>\n

Kansas FFA Director Beth Gaines said the organization serves students enrolled in school-based agricultural education programs. There are 242 such programs across Kansas.<\/p>\n

\u201cFFA is connected. It\u2019s a student organization for students enrolled in school-based agriculture education programs across the state,\u201d Gaines said. \u201cDuring Give FFA Day, our goal is to raise a lot of money in 24 hours to support students, fellowships and grants, and leadership as well as agriculture education instructors.\u201d<\/p>\n

Goal of $50,000<\/p>\n

Gaines said the $50,000 target is achievable, pointing to strong early activity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe think it\u2019s achievable. The activity was good this morning so hopefully we\u2019re rolling into the afternoon,\u201d Gaines said. \u201cPeople are really excited to invest in these young leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of noon Thursday, the Kansas chapter was about 83% of reaching the goal. <\/p>\n

Donations stay in Kansas<\/p>\n

Gaines said Give FFA Day is a national event with multiple states participating, but money raised in Kansas stays in Kansas. She said chapters in the KWCH Channel 12 viewing area are among those that will benefit from funds raised.<\/p>\n
