WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) \u2014 The North Carolina Azalea Festival has announced film, television and stage actress Elaine Hendrix will reign as the 2026 Queen Azalea.<\/p>\n
Hendrix, who previously visited the festival as a celebrity guest, will return to Wilmington to serve as queen. She will be officially crowned April 8 at 3 p.m. aboard the Battleship North Carolina, which will air on WWAY that evening at 5:00 pm.<\/p>\n
Hendrix is known for her performances in \u201cThe Parent Trap,\u201d \u201cRomy and Michele\u2019s High School Reunion\u201d and \u201cSuperstar.\u201d She has also appeared in major franchises including \u201cGet Smart,\u201d \u201cInspector Gadget,\u201d \u201cThe Munsters\u201d and \u201cResident Evil.\u201d<\/p>\n
Television audiences may recognize her as Alexis Carrington on \u201cDynasty,\u201d along with appearances on \u201cFriends,\u201d \u201cTwo and a Half Men\u201d and \u201cCriminal Minds.\u201d Hendrix recently reunited with her \u201cThe Parent Trap\u201d co-star Lindsay Lohan in \u201cFreakier Friday\u201d and was a finalist on the most recent season of \u201cDancing with the Stars.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her stage credits include \u201cHello, Dolly!,\u201d \u201cA Streetcar Named Desire\u201d and \u201cSteel Magnolias.\u201d Hendrix also co-produced the Off-Broadway production \u201cGinger Twinsies\u201d and authored the wellness book \u201cDon\u2019t Worry, Eat Happy.\u201d She is an advocate for animal rights, LGBTQ+ equality, women\u2019s rights and environmental justice.<\/p>\n
As Queen Azalea, Hendrix will participate in several signature festival events, including the Celebrity Reception, Airlie Garden Party, Bluewater After Garden Get Down, Queen\u2019s Dance Party, the parade and appearances at the Street Fair Performing Arts Stage.<\/p>\n
