(PIX11) \u2014 It\u2019s a burial ground founded a century-and-a-half ago by and for enslaved African Americans.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Some 1,000 children, women and men have been laid to rest at the site on Staten Island. Today, it\u2019s a strip mall.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Some work has been done to commemorate and acknowledge the history and heritage of the cemetery.
