NYPD Officer Michael Izzo, 42, was laid to rest with honors Sunday in Suffolk County.<\/p>\n
Izzo, who served on the Quality of Life Team in the 111th Precinct, died Feb. 10, two days after he was in a collision in Greenlawn, LI, while he was driving off duty in his personal vehicle.<\/p>\n
Izzo, a Huntington resident, joined the NYPD in December 2021.<\/p>\n
\u201cRest in heavenly peace …\u201d the Police Benevolent Association posted on social media. \u201cYou will never be forgotten by your peers, friends, and family.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a press release, the Suffolk County Police Department said the crash took place at 3:19 a.m. Izzo was traveling east at an intersection in his Honda CRV when the car collided with a northbound Toyota Tundra.<\/p>\n
Police said the other driver was not injured. The case remains under investigation.<\/p>\n
