The Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Thursday announced<\/a> an overhaul of its \u201cMusic Under New York\u201d program, which brings live music to subway stations across all five boroughs. Renamed MTA Music, the program marks the 40th anniversary of the MTA\u2019s Arts & Design initiative and features an expanded lineup of performers through 2026 and beyond. The relaunch includes a new monthly Station Series, bringing themed performances to five locations each month, with each showcase celebrating a different musical or cultural heritage alongside the program\u2019s ongoing daily performances.<\/p>\n The inaugural Station Series took place on Thursday, featuring performances celebrating Black History Month at five locations: Parkchester Station in the Bronx; Atlantic Terminal\/Atlantic Avenue\u2013Barclays Center in Brooklyn; 34th Street\u2013Herald Square in Manhattan; Jackson Heights\u2013Roosevelt Avenue\/74th Street in Queens; and St. George Terminal on Staten Island.<\/p>\n Future Station Series themes include:<\/p>\n March: Women\u2019s History Month<\/p>\n April: Jazz Appreciation Month<\/p>\n May: Asian Pacific American Heritage Month<\/p>\n June: World Beats, coinciding with the FIFA World Cup in NYC<\/p>\n July: The Great American Songbook, alongside America\u2019s 250th anniversary<\/p>\n September: Classical Music Appreciation Month<\/p>\n October: Subway Day<\/p>\n November: Indigenous Peoples\u2019 Heritage Month<\/p>\n December: Holiday and New Year celebrations<\/p>\n Additional Station Series performances will be revealed throughout the year.<\/p>\n Regular daily MTA Music performances continue at locations across all five boroughs, including Times Square\u201342nd Street; 34th Street\u2013Penn Station; 14th Street\u2013Union Square; Grand Central Terminal (East and West); Staten Island Ferry\u2019s Whitehall Terminal; Grand Central\u201342nd Street; 42nd Street\u2013Port Authority Bus Terminal; and Times Square\u201342nd Street. These performances run alongside the new Station Series events.<\/p>\n The program\u2019s rebranding also comes with a visual update.
