Trouble\u2019s brewing in Staten Island this St. Patrick\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n
A borough coffee shop is closing its doors early Sunday to avoid the \u201cnext-level\u201d insanity that hordes of boozed-up teenagers wrought at last year\u2019s St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was wild. It was next level,\u201d Coppola told The Post ahead of the annual parade.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt got to the point where I was like, \u2018I can\u2019t do this.\u2019 It\u2019s not a matter of making the money. It\u2019s a matter of your coming into my store \u2014 a family environment \u2013, and you\u2019re trashing my place.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coppola made the hard decision last week when organizers announced the parade would proceed despite the historic levels of now dumped on the borough.<\/a><\/p>\n The annual Irish fete has always been lush with liquor and underage drinking<\/a>, but the mayhem spiraled out of control last year.<\/p>\n Kids were hammered hours before the parade\u2019s 12 p.m. start time \u2014 and multiple even spewed their guts across her coffee shop floor, Coppola said.<\/p>\n Coppola made the hard decision last week when organizers announced the parade would proceed despite the historic levels of now dumped on the borough. Stefano Giovannini for NY Post<\/p>\n The hoodlums clogged her toilet and even continued climbing over chairs Coppola had positioned to block access to the bathroom, she said.<\/p>\n \u201cThere was a fight in the threshold of my store. These two girls went at it. One of them went into my front window. I don\u2019t know how she didn\u2019t break it,\u201d Coppola recalled. Her decision to shutter was first reported by the Staten Island Advance. <\/a><\/p>\n \u201cA cop\u2019s radio was stolen and thrown on the street because they tried to step in and break it up, and then they get attacked!\u201d<\/p>\n The situation got so serious that Coppola decided to shut the shop down early and lock the doors \u2014 inviting only friends and young kids to hunker down inside to escape the rampage occurring outside the doors. <\/p>\n Police hold stop barricades from being turned over as spectators get caught in a bottleneck along the route during the Staten Island St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade on March 02, 2025. I was feeding them, and I was giving them drinks, and I was just like, \u2018Stay here!’\u201d said Coppola.<\/p>\n Numerous kids were put in cuffs at last year\u2019s parade, and some were given treatment by EMS, but no arrests were made, according to the NYPD.<\/p>\n Pictures of cops emptying out confiscated BORGS \u2014 a homemade \u201cblackout rage gallon\u201d cocktail<\/a> popular with Gen Z \u2014 also went viral last year.<\/p>\n
