Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg were blasted Friday as the city\u2019s \u201cAxis of Anarchy\u201d over their handling of the hooligans who winged icy snowballs<\/a> at NYPD Finest.<\/p>\n

The lefty Hizzoner has refused to call the violent attack anything more than \u201ckids\u201d play and even joked that if anyone should be hit with a snowball, it was he \u2014 despite the fact that two cops were sent to the hospital with injuries from the melee.<\/p>\n

Bragg\u2019s prosecutors then declined to level a police-assault charge against accused cop-pelter and YouTuber Gusmane Coulibaly<\/a>, claiming they couldn\u2019t confirm the 27-year-old man\u2019s alleged actions physically injured a responding officer.<\/p>\n

The shocking disrespectful and dangerous incident against NYPD officers occurred in a West Village park Monday. X@NYCPDDEA<\/p>\n

\u201cZohran Mamdani and Alvin Bragg are New York City\u2019s Axis of Anarchy,\u201d said a state GOP party rep in a statement<\/a> Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey just sent a message to the mob loud and clear: attack cops, and the radical Democratic establishment will have your back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police union President Patrick Hendry also claimed the district attorney\u2019s office was \u201cdownplaying\u201d the incident after Coulibaly\u2019s arraignment, in which the defendant walked out of court on supervised release.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo why wasn\u2019t assault charged? Why was harassment charged? Why do they feel that that didn\u2019t cause an injury to a police officer, which he clearly, clearly has an injury below his eye?\u201d Hendry said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat fact is, this was a blatant attack on the uniform that they wear so proudly every day,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch \u2014 who has been furious over the attack on the cops \u2014 warned Friday<\/a> that she won\u2019t just stand by and watch her officers get hurt.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing that you can count on with me is this: I will hold this department to the highest standards,\u201d she said at a promotions ceremony to rank-and-file officers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen those standards are met, I will always be fiercely protective of you, and as you\u2019ve seen recently, I certainly will not tolerate any attacks on my cops, period.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Mamdani again declined to echo his top cop\u2019s sentiment Friday when asked about the downgraded charge against one of the perps.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd what I\u2019ve said in regards to the snowball fight is that it\u2019s a snowball fight that got out of hand, and I don\u2019t really have much more to say,\u201d he told reporters at an unrelated event in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

The DA\u2019s office declined comment, instead pointing to its argument made in court Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

Despite the comments from Tisch, Mamdani has insisted that it was a \u201csnowball fight that got out of hand.\u201d Stephen Yang for NY Post<\/p>\n

Assistant District Attorney Victoria Notaro said that while one of the victimized cops suffered redness, tenderness and pain under his left eye, prosecutors couldn\u2019t prove \u201cthat the injury was obtained directly from the defendant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former NYPD Chief of Department-turned-commentator John Chell notably defended Manhattan prosecutors, pointing out the difficulty in proving the cop suffered an injury at the hands of the snowball-tossing suspect.<\/p>\n

The snowball attack happened last week at Washington Square Park. FNTV<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, the charge of OGA, Obstructing Gov Admn, will be charged as a misdemeanor. It will be dealt with accordingly,\u201d he wrote on X<\/a> in response to a right-wing influencer decrying the dropped assault charge.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe probable cause was good and all charges not dropped.\u201d<\/p>\n
