Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg Jr. says a Brooklyn man was sentenced for fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend near Union Square in Manhattan in 2022.<\/p>\n
Clarkson Wilson, 47, will serve 25 years to life behind bars for shooting 25-year-old Imani Armstrong in the head at point-blank range on Sept. 1 as she walked home from her job on East 14th Street.<\/p>\n
Prosecutors say Wilson and Armstrong dated for around six months before Armstrong attempted to end their relationship.<\/p>\n
Prior to the deadly attack, Wilson waited near Armstrong\u2019s workplace for nearly seven hours before she left, and he followed her down the street.<\/p>\n
Several blocks later, he pulled a gun and shot Armstrong in the back of the head, court documents say.<\/p>\n
He ran from the scene at the corner of 14th Street and Irving Place, changed his clothing to avoid police, and boarded a subway back to Brooklyn.<\/p>\n
A jury convicted Wilson of murder and criminal possession of a weapon on Dec. 10.<\/p>\n
“Imani Armstrong was leaving her job one morning, not knowing that her life would be cut short by an ex-partner with a gun. Clarkson Wilson is facing significant prison time for his calculated, callous, and deadly conduct,” said DA Bragg. “While this sentencing will not bring Ms. Armstrong back, I hope that it can serve as a measure of closure for her loved ones who continue to mourn her loss.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L.
