STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Stony Brook men’s lacrosse won its second straight game on Saturday afternoon, swiftly defeating visiting Manhattan 15-6 at LaValle Stadium.<\/p>\n
HOW IT HAPPENED Manhattan kept things close with two quick goals in the second quarter, making things a 5-3 game with 11:55 remaining in the first half. That would be as close as the Jaspers would get for the remainder of the game, as the Seawolves snatched back momentum with four consecutive goals to close the second quarter and give them a commanding 9-3 lead at the break.<\/p>\n Stony Brook picked up right where it left off in the third quarter with a goal from Justin Bonacci<\/a> in the first minute. Building off the opening goal of the quarter, the Seawolves would put in the next four goals, expanding their lead to 14-3. Stony Brook drew first blood as Owen Donnellan<\/a> scored his first career goal to give the Seawolves a 1-0 lead. Shortly after that, Stony Brook would tack on two more goals from Caleb Yeung<\/a> and Brian Bradley<\/a> to make it 3-0 Seawolves with 7:26 to go in the opening quarter. The 3-0 advantage did not last as Manhattan scored its first of the day less than a minute later. The Seawolves would tally the final two goals of the opening quarter, capped off by a goal from Declan Mitchell<\/a> fresh off a faceoff win.<\/p>\n
\n\tBonacci posted his second straight multi-goal performance with two goals in the win.
\n\tBrian Bradley<\/a> notched the first two goals of his collegiate career today.
\n\tKian McCoy<\/a> rounded out the Seawolf multi-goal scorers with two goals.
\n\tYeung, Donnellan, Mitchell, Jake Lewis<\/a>, Michael Kloepfer<\/a>, Jack Kalinowski<\/a>, and Carson Boyle<\/a> all scored a goal in today’s game.
\n\tStony Brook outshot the Jaspers by a margin of 42-to-26.
\n\tWith today’s win, the Seawolves improve to 13-7 all-time against Manhattan.
\n\tThe Stony Brook defense caused nine turnovers.<\/p>\n
