On Jan. 30, a Queens judge overturned his conviction.<\/p>\n
NY1 was there as Porter finally walked out of prison and into the arms of his family.<\/p>\n
He returned to court Monday hoping to learn whether Queens prosecutors would dismiss the indictment in his case or appeal the judge\u2019s decision to overturn his conviction and re-try Porter.<\/p>\n
While a judge removed Porter\u2019s house arrest restrictions Monday, Porter left court without answers from the Queens district attorney\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for the Queens district attorney\u2019s office told NY1 in a statement: \u201cWe are reviewing the decision.\u201d<\/p>\n
Living in legal limbo, Porter told NY1 he\u2019s been adapting to how much the world had changed during the 30 years he spent in prison.<\/p>\n
\u201cUbers and things like cellphones, this is a whole new world for me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Since his release, one of Porter\u2019s dreams has come true. He was able to attend Sunday service at Greater Allen A. M. E. Church with his family.<\/p>\n
He addressed the congregation last month, saying, \u201cI remember when I was in prison and I used to lift my hands and worship.
