For Meaghan Dorman, the bar director and partner of Raines Law Room<\/a> and Dear Irving Gramercy<\/a>, hours can be unpredictable, and hours free from work are precious.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are places I picked because\u00a0they\u2019re\u00a0definitely great\u00a0to go solo, or to meet friends after. I\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0want to [take a friend] anywhere I\u00a0wouldn\u2019t\u00a0want to go alone \u2013 these are my test cases,\u201d Dorman laughs.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re also ideal, she says, for off-hours dining and drinking, a must for those who work in the service industry. Her list of the best places to score bar seats outside of prime time all share a focus on music, a kind and welcoming staff, and of course, a killer drinks program.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean,\u00a0I\u2019ve\u00a0stayed at my\u00a0job\u00a017 years. Clearly once I like a place,\u00a0I stay,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n
