{"id":151495,"date":"2026-03-03T20:18:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T20:18:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/151495\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T20:18:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T20:18:07","slug":"news-12-the-bronx-367","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/151495\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | The Bronx"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police say a Department of Education employee and a Bronx man have been charged with murder in connection to the fatal shooting a Bronx father and injuring his brother in Kingsbridge.<\/p>\n<p>DOE employee Naya Brown, 26, and Pernell Warren, 27, are accused of killing 44-year-old Keon Gill on Jan. 25 at West 242nd Street and Broadway. Gill&#8217;s family told News 12 he was <a href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/family-remembers-bronx-father-killed-on-his-44th-birthday-in-kingsbridge\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">celebrating his birthday<\/a> at a local bar the night of his death.<\/p>\n<p>Gill attended the party with his brother, Luis, and a few friends, his family says.<\/p>\n<p>After the party ended just before 3 a.m., police say shots rang out, fatally striking Gill in the chest and his 35-year-old brother in the leg.<\/p>\n<p>His brother is expected to recover, according to authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Gill is survived by his four children.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His world was his kids.
