The fire affected two apartments on the 25th floor after flames broke out early Monday morning, March 2.<\/p>\n
FDNY told News 12 the cause of the fire is still under investigation. All five people hurt are expected to be OK after suffering minor injuries.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel sad. It\u2019s my neighbor, it\u2019s my friends \u2014 it\u2019s like a family,\u201d said Malik, a ninth\u2011floor resident.<\/p>\n
The Department of Buildings told News 12 that heat from the flames melted the railings on the balconies of the impacted apartments.<\/p>\n
Community members said the destructive aftermath caused elevator problems, with only one elevator working and creating long delays.<\/p>\n
\u201cI waited 20 minutes and nothing,\u201d Malik said.<\/p>\n
DOB also told News 12 it has not received any reports of damaged elevators.
