One engine and one ladder compaany responded. There are no reported injuries.<\/p>\n<p>It was first seen around 2:30 pm ET. The busy landmark in the Big Apple is used on a daily basis by thousands of commuters. Eyewitnesses have reported that the road is closed in both directions.<\/p>\n<p>Footage posted on X shows smoke and sirens heading one way on the bridge, and alleges that a car may have caught fire.<\/p>\n<p>The bridge carries on average about 103,051 vehicles per day, according to 2024 data from the <a data-link-tracking=\"InArticle|Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.the-express.com\/latest\/new-york\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York<\/a> City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT).<\/p>\n<p>The evening rush hour usually begins around 4pm and lasts until 7pm.<\/p>\n<p>DONT MISS\u2026<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Thick black smoke has been spotted rising from the Brooklyn Bridge in New York.
