Police are searching for a gunman after a man was shot in the stomach Wednesday afternoon in Parkchester.<\/p>\n
According to the NYPD, officers responded to a call of shots fired shortly after 4 p.m. outside 1459 Taylor Ave.<\/p>\n
When officers arrived, they found a 43-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the stomach. EMS rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where officials say he is in stable condition.<\/p>\n
Investigators shut down part of the two-way roadway while detectives searched the scene for evidence.<\/p>\n
The suspected gunman ran away before officers arrived and remains on the loose.<\/p>\n
Angel, who lives about a block from the scene, said the shooting was surprising but not completely shocking.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a good community, it\u2019s quiet,\u201d he said. \u201cFor this? Nah\u2026 that\u2019s usual.\u201d<\/p>\n
The shooting comes just two days after the NYPD announced the fewest gun-related crimes during the first two months of a year in the city\u2019s history, underscoring that gun violence is still occurring in parts of the Bronx.<\/p>\n
Police say they are searching for a man dressed in all black in connection with the shooting.<\/p>\n
