#13 NC State (12\u20131) pulled away in the final innings yesterday, defeating Queens 9\u20132 in Raleigh.<\/p>\n

The game was tied 1\u20131 through five innings before the Wolfpack broke through in the bottom of the sixth. Ty Head scored on a sacrifice fly to give NC State a 2\u20131 lead.<\/p>\n

From there, the Pack\u2019s offense erupted.<\/p>\n

NC State scored four runs in the seventh inning and three more in the eighth to put the game away.<\/p>\n

Big Offensive Moments<\/p>\n

In the seventh inning, NC State created separation with two big swings:<\/p>\n

Sophomore SS Mikey Ryan hit a two-run home run
\nJunior 1B Chris McHugh followed with a two-run triple<\/p>\n

The Wolfpack added insurance in the eighth inning:<\/p>\n

\nFreshman LF Rett Johnson drove in two runs with a single<\/p>\n

Strong Pitching Performance<\/p>\n

Freshman Luke Hemric made his second start of the season, allowing one run over three innings while striking out two.<\/p>\n

Through three appearances, Hemric now owns a 0.96 ERA.<\/p>\n

Sophomore Ryder Garino earned his first win of the season, delivering a dominant relief outing:<\/p>\n

\n1 walk<\/p>\n

The South Carolina transfer has been outstanding early in the season, pitching 8.1 scoreless innings across four appearances while striking out 12 batters.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s Next<\/p>\n

With the win, NC State has now won seven straight games.<\/p>\n

The Wolfpack will host Lafayette this weekend in Raleigh, with the series opener scheduled for Friday at 3:00 PM.<\/p>\n
