The New York Giants<\/a> are in the market for cornerback help this offseason and they are reportedly interested in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> free agent.<\/p>\n

According to SNY’s Connor Hughes<\/a>, the Giants are “high on” veteran cornerback Jamel Dean, who Spotrac projects will land<\/a> a three-year, $37 million deal.<\/p>\n

“Jamel Dean is someone I’ve heard [the Giants are] high on. See if they can get something done there,” Hughes wrote.<\/p>\n

New York’s need at cornerback comes from the fact that Cor’Dale Flott is a free agent. Even if he does return, Big Blue needs more help at the position.<\/p>\n

A former third-round pick of the Buccaneers in 2019, Dean has spent his entire career in Tampa Bay.<\/p>\n

Dean played like one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL in 2025. The veteran posted Pro Football Focus<\/a> grades of 75.9 in coverage, 99.9 in the pass-rush and 63.3 in run defense, all of which ranked ninth, first and 46th at his position.<\/p>\n

Dean’s pure coverage numbers were quite impressive, also, with the Auburn product surrendering a completion rate of 49.2% and a passer rating of 63.1.<\/p>\n

The biggest knock on Dean is his injury history. He has never played a full season during his seven-year career, with Dean missing at least two games in each year.<\/p>\n

That’s something the Giants will definitely have to weigh, but that could also drive his market down and make him cheaper.<\/p>\n
