\u201cIt\u2019s just good to be home,\u201d Sweta Patel said.<\/p>\n
The passengers were stranded for days due to canceled flights following missile attacks from Iran.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t know when we were going to be back, and so being back home feels really good,\u201d Sweta said. \u201cWe were traveling with a 6-month-old, so it was really stressful.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her husband, Anush Patel, said his family\u2019s safety was a top concern.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe could see the U.S. Consulate in Dubai from our window, and for three days I\u2019m looking at it and I\u2019m like, \u2018OK, it\u2019s right there. That\u2019s kind of cool,\u2019\u201d Anush said. \u201cWe ended up checking out that morning, and that same night there was a drone attack on it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Charles Lowe said getting on a flight back to the U.S. took days.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the flights were basically canceled,\u201d he said. \u201cShowed up scheduled and ready to go. Finally, we got a car and drove over to Iman. And finally, was able to get a flight from there to Istanbul and then come back home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lowe said he captured this video of an interceptor stopping a missile headed to Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was freaky, he said. \u201cI learned how to walk [really] fast.\u201d<\/p>\n
David Cisneros said he and his father, originally from Mexico, became stranded in Dubai during a layover. He says it was his father\u2019s high blood pressure that allowed them to take a chartered flight to New York.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe got a doctor,\u201d Cisneros said. \u201cThe doctor came in, provided a prescription [for] whatever he needed. And that\u2019s the story that got us out, I need to say.\u201d<\/p>\n
College students in Connecticut and Massachusetts were stranded in Dubai during a Model United Nations conference.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were chairing a conference, judging a conference of mainly high schoolers and college students as well,\u201d Evan Rhault, who attends the University of Connecticut, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe reached out to a lot of Senate and Representatives\u2019 offices as well,\u201d Rhault\u2019s friend Ryan Rivera Cabrera said. \u201cIt seems organizationally there just wasn\u2019t a plan.\u201d<\/p>\n
They said students were forced to hide from incoming missiles in a makeshift bomb shelter under their hotel.<\/p>\n
Renault says the experience makes him more motivated to pursue his studies in diplomacy.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow that we were just in an active war zone, a lot of people have failed in their task of trying to solve things with peace, trying to solve things with talks, and they just go straight into war,\u201d Rhault said.<\/p>\n
According to the UAE, limited flights are departing from Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) after service was suspended due to the regional conflict.
