2.\u00a0Police: Man accused of stealing 47 rental cars worth $1M from Syracuse Airport<\/a><\/p>\n

A man is accused of stealing dozens of rental vehicles from a Syracuse airport car rental agency and renting them out himself. Between June and August, 47 vehicles were stolen from Avis Budget Car Rental at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport campus. The vehicles were valued at more than $1 million.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Sheriff’s office: More victims linked to convicted sex offender<\/a><\/p>\n

Officials said Friday morning that Ryan Pontello,\u00a0accused of raping a 5-year-old girl in June in North Syracuse<\/a>\u00a0and accused later that month of\u00a0additional sexual assaults of children,<\/a>\u00a0faces more than a dozen more felony charges, linked to alleged sex acts on children in 2022.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0New York allocates funds for Planned Parenthood in the wake of federal cuts<\/a><\/p>\n

This comes months after the federal government enacted a one-year prohibition\u00a0on Medicaid funding to organizations that provide abortion<\/a>. The prohibition specifically applies to groups that received more than $800,000 in federal funds back in 2023. Planned Parenthood and its affiliates are the only organizations in the state that meet the requirements for the funding prohibitions.<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0Retired New York state trooper charged with stealing from State Police union<\/a><\/p>\n

Thomas Mungeer, a 56-year-old retired state trooper, was arrested at State Police Troop G Headquarters in Latham, and arraigned on a third-degree grand larceny felony charge in Albany City Court, State Police said Friday morning in a statement.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0Trump says he’s ending trade talks with Canada over TV ads<\/a><\/p>\n

President\u00a0Donald Trump\u00a0said late Thursday that he was ending \u201call trade negotiations\u201d with Canada because of a\u00a0television ad\u00a0opposing U.S. tariffs that he said misstated the facts and called \u201cegregious behavior\u201d aimed at influencing U.S. court decisions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Good evening, Central New York.
