{"id":155349,"date":"2026-03-06T15:37:42","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T15:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/155349\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T15:37:42","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T15:37:42","slug":"man-killed-by-gunshot-to-head-in-bronx-apartment-lobby-clash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/155349\/","title":{"rendered":"Man killed by gunshot to head in Bronx apartment lobby clash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 27-year-old man was killed early Friday after he was shot in the head inside a Bronx apartment building, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/01\/01\/nypd-ends-2025-with-historic-decreases-in-murders-and-shootings-uptick-in-rapes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">police<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>Shots were fired inside the E. 165th St. address near Tinton Ave. in Morrisania, part of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/assets\/nycha\/downloads\/pdf\/Forest.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NYCHA\u2019s Forest Houses<\/a>, at about 6:30 a.m., cops said.<\/p>\n<p>When police arrived, they found the victim unconscious in the lobby of the building with a gunshot wound to the back of the head.<\/p>\n<p>EMS rushed him to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nychealthandhospitals.org\/locations\/lincoln\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lincoln Hospital<\/a>, where he died of his wound. One of the suspects had a black backpack.<\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p>Cops were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2022\/12\/26\/elite-nypd-squad-uses-surveillance-video-to-track-and-catch-criminals-we-take-a-lot-of-pride-in-our-work\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">scouring the area for surveillance footage<\/a> that can help them identify the suspects and track their movements.<\/p>\n<p>Through Sunday, the Bronx had seen half of the city\u2019s homicides this year and 44% of its shootings, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>Citywide, homicides and shootings are down this year, with 32 murders and 99 people shot through Sunday, compared to 55 murders and 112 people shot by the same time last year.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" lazyautosizes lazyload\" alt=\"Police investigate after a man was fatally shot inside a Bronx apartment building on Friday morning. \" width=\"9504\" data- src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/TNY-P18-20260306-082850.jpg\" data-attachment-id=\"8730955\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Theodore Parisienne \/ New York Daily News<\/p>\n<p>Police investigate after a man was fatally shot inside a Bronx apartment building on Friday morning.
