The event was billed as both a memorial for Khamenei \u2014 whose death was dubbed by those present as an \u201cassassination by US government forces\u201d \u2014 and for \u201call martyrs of Amerikan [sic] imperialism.\u201d<\/p>\n

Multiple people were taken into police custody.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course, we needed external intervention to get rid of these terrorists from the whole Middle East, and they have the power of oil behind them,\u201d one pro-war Iranian protester told local media<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now in its seventh day, the conflict \u2014 codenamed Operation Epic Fury by the US and Lion\u2019s Roar by Israel \u2014 the US and Israel have battered Iran with strikes, targeting its military capabilities, leadership and nuclear program.<\/p>\n \t The stated goals and timelines for the war have repeatedly shifted, as the US has at times suggested it seeks to topple Iran\u2019s government or elevate new leadership from within.<\/p>\n The fighting has killed at least 1,230 people in Iran, more than 200 in Lebanon and around a dozen in Israel, according to officials in those countries. Six US troops have been killed.<\/p>\n
