{"id":157165,"date":"2026-03-08T19:06:19","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T19:06:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/157165\/"},"modified":"2026-03-08T19:06:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T19:06:19","slug":"engel-tallies-overtime-winner-for-mens-lacrosse-at-le-moyne","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/157165\/","title":{"rendered":"Engel Tallies Overtime Winner for Men\u2019s Lacrosse at Le Moyne"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>                    &#13;<br \/>\n                        &#13;<br \/>\n &#13;<\/p>\n<p>SYRACUSE, NY \u2013 The Manhattan Jaspers Men&#8217;s Lacrosse team (2-4) took down the Dolphins of Le Moyne College (1-6) by a score of 12-11 in overtime inside Ted Grant Field on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>HOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tAfter falling to Stony Brook last week on Long Island, the Jaspers responded quickly, with <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/thomas-white\/12153\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12153\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas White<\/a> finding the back of the net just three minutes in, after the Dolphins blocked <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/nick-henry\/12171\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12171\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Henry&#8217;s<\/a> initial attempt.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Dolphins responded with two quick markers before Manhattan cleared the ball in line for <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/nick-henry\/12171\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12171\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Henry<\/a> to capture the next two goals to put the Jaspers back in front.&#13;<br \/>\n\tWith time expiring in the first quarter, the Jaspers continued pushing and pushing with a pair of missed shots from <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/liam-peabody\/10101\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10101\" target=\"_blank\">Liam Peabody<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/nick-henry\/12171\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12171\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Henry<\/a>, before <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/sean-shelko\/10109\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10109\" target=\"_blank\">Sean Shelko&#8217;s<\/a> attempt was successful to leap ahead of the Dolphins with one second on the clock.&#13;<br \/>\n\tWith the game tied at four, another barrage of shots came from the Jaspers minutes into the second stanza, and <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/thomas-white\/12153\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12153\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas White<\/a> put the Green and White back in front.&#13;<br \/>\n\tThe Dolphins quickly responded with two goals before <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/aiden-kane\/10164\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10164\" target=\"_blank\">Aiden Kane<\/a> tied the game for the third time in the waning minutes.&#13;<br \/>\n\tManhattan then surrendered the next three at the end of the half and into the third quarter. The Jaspers responded with <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/jack-miller\/10167\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10167\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Miller<\/a>, who shrank their deficit to two goals.&#13;<br \/>\n\tTrailing by as much as three with five minutes remaining in regulation, the Jaspers reeled off three straight goals and caused two turnovers to force overtime, tied at 11.&#13;<br \/>\n\tTwo minutes into overtime, the Jaspers kept the Dolphins in check with the offense pushing towards the defensive end. <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/thomas-white\/12153\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12153\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas White<\/a> had a shot blocked before <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/aiden-kane\/10164\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10164\" target=\"_blank\">Aiden Kane<\/a> found <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/connor-engel\/12170\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12170\" target=\"_blank\">Connor Engel<\/a> to find the back of the net to clinch its second win and four straight unanswered goals.&#13;<\/p>\n<p>STATS AND NOTES<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\tAttack <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/connor-engel\/12170\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12170\" target=\"_blank\">Connor Engel<\/a> recorded the game-winning goal in overtime on two shots on target, while grabbing two ground balls on the afternoon.&#13;<br \/>\n\tMidfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/aiden-kane\/10164\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10164\" target=\"_blank\">Aiden Kane<\/a> posted a game-high five points on two goals and three assists, while logging a game-high nine shots with three on goal. On nine of the shots, Kane posted four on goal and scooped one ground ball.&#13;<br \/>\n\tAttack <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/sean-shelko\/10109\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10109\" target=\"_blank\">Sean Shelko<\/a> logged two goals and two assists on six shots. Four of which were on goal.&#13;<br \/>\n\tMidfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/thomas-white\/12153\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12153\" target=\"_blank\">Thomas White<\/a> also added two goals to the scoreboard on seven shots. Three on goal, while grabbing a ground ball and causing one turnover.&#13;<br \/>\n\tAttack <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/nick-henry\/12171\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"12171\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Henry<\/a> grabbed two goals on nine shots, with three on goal, while adding two ground balls to his ledger.&#13;<br \/>\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/connor-white\/10145\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10145\" target=\"_blank\">Connor White<\/a> notched two goals on four shots, with two on goal. White also caused one turnover in the afternoon.&#13;<br \/>\n\tMidfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/gojaspers.com\/sports\/mens-lacrosse\/roster\/jack-miller\/10167\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"10167\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Miller<\/a> notched one goal and one assist on five shots, with four on goal, and two ground balls added.&#13;<br \/>\n\tManhattan logged 46 shots, compared to 29. The Jaspers notched 23 shots on goal, compared to 16.
