Manhattan wannabe congressman Jack Schlossberg<\/a> is ramping up his reliance on his slain grandfather and former President John F. Kennedy to raise more campaign cash.<\/p>\n

\u201cLately, I\u2019ve been doing some reflecting on my grandfather, President John F. Kennedy, and his legacy of hope. In my run to fight for NY-12 in Congress, and just as a person, that\u2019s what I want to focus on. Hope,\u201d Schlossberg, 33, said in a March 5 e-blitz plea for election dough.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy name is Jack, or John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg if you want to know the whole thing,\u201d he said, even invoking the surname name of his beloved late grandmother, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis,<\/a> too.<\/p>\n

Schlossberg is one of many candidates running in the June Democratic primary to replace Rep. Jerrold Nadler in the 12th House District<\/a>, which encompasses the West and East sides of Manhattan.<\/p>\n

In a March 4 e-solicitation, he said, \u201cJack Schlossberg here \u2014 candidate for Congress in NY-12. <\/p>\n

\u201cDonald Trump just announced he\u2019s going to rename the Kennedy Center after HIMSELF<\/a>\u2026This isn\u2019t the first time Trump has tried to erase my grandfather President Kennedy\u2019s legacy, and it won\u2019t be the last.\u201d<\/p>\n

On March 2, Schlossberg added in an appeal for campaign dollars, \u201cIn high school, I spent hours watching my grandfather\u2019s speeches. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe taught us all that politics isn\u2019t about serving yourself \u2014 it\u2019s about serving others. When we fight for hope, we\u2019re not just doing it for ourselves, we\u2019re doing it for each other and the future we all have to share.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know I have big shoes to fill. In my grandfather\u2019s memory, I\u2019ve led a life of caring about this a lot. I put that care and effort and hope into everything I do. But this is bigger than me. It\u2019s bigger than my family\u2019s legacy,\u201d said Schlossberg, whose mother is John and Jackie\u2019s daughter Caroline.<\/a><\/p>\n

Several other of his fundraising solicitations were nearly identical, too.<\/p>\n

Schlossberg had already mentioned JFK in his first official campaign fundraiser announcing his candidacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m running to represent NY-12 in Congress! This is the district where I was born and raised, and the place that five generations of my family have called home,\u201d Schlossberg said Nov. 17.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Jack Schlossberg, and my grandfather, President Kennedy, is my hero.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former president was assassinated Nov. 22, 1963.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will forever be known as the dead grandpa campaign. It\u2019s outrageous,\u201d said veteran political strategist Hank Sheinkopf.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to be 80 years to remember JFK. It\u2019s not a growing demographic group.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Schlossberg said he connects with voters when he mentions his grandpa, JFK, because everyone loves their grandparents.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have two grandfathers \u2014 one was president of the United States and the other was president of his temple on the uptown,\u201d Jack said, the latter being Alfred Schlossberg, his father\u2019s father.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe generations who built NYC and the USA deserve to be acknowledged,\u201d Schlossberg said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love asking people about their grandparents.
