The Greatest Showman honored the Greatest Newsman Saturday night in NYC.<\/p>\n
Hugh Jackman performed at Rupert Murdoch\u2019s 95th birthday at The Grill, turning the storied Seagram Building eatery into a black-tie cabaret for a roomful of family, friends and A-list guests.<\/p>\n
Jackman sang Sinatra classics \u201cNew York, New York\u201d and \u201cFly Me to the Moon,\u201d we hear, as well as three songs from \u201cThe Greatest Showman\u201d and a tune from his Broadway musical, \u201cThe Boy from Oz.\u201d The Hollywood star also thanked Murdoch for supporting his successful career.<\/p>\n

Bret Baier of Fox News introduced a surprise video tribute to the Chairman Emeritus of Fox Corporation and News Corp from President Trump. POTUS called Murdoch \u201clegendary\u201d and \u201cone of a kind,\u201d and also praised the birthday boy for his \u201ccourage, vision, and determination,\u201d saying he\u2019s \u201cchanged the world\u201d during his venerable career.<\/p>\n
Cardinal Timothy Dolan led grace to start the dinner, and speakers during the program included Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch, News Corp CEO \u00a0Robert Thomson, Rupert Murdoch\u2019s wife Elena Zhukova and Murdoch himself. Sarah Murdoch, as well as Grace and Chloe Murdoch, were also there.<\/p>\n

Son Lachlan told his dad in a toast: \u201cYou are entitled to be called many things \u00a0.\u2009.\u2009. but I know you are most proud of being a journalist at heart.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wife Elena, who married the News Corp legend in 2024, said, \u201cRupert is fearless,\u201d adding that her husband \u201cis made of an insatiable love and appreciation of life, and a mixture of wisdom and boyishness.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt just shows you wonderful things can still happen at 92,\u201d Murdoch said of his wife. He also thanked everyone for coming, adding: \u201cI won\u2019t bore you with memories of what you know \u2014 this is the time to look to the future. America has become the unmatched engine of invention.\u201d<\/p>\n
