Likely’s contract is reportedly worth up to $47.5 million. It slots in just ahead of Mark Andrews in the tight end salary pecking order, as the Ravens signed their franchise leader to a reported three-year, $39.2 million deal late last season.<\/p>\n
Likely, 25, is a good fit for the Giants and a strong pairing with second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart. Dart has a knack for making off-script plays, similar to the ones Likely and Lamar Jackson frequently connected on in Baltimore.<\/p>\n
Jackson and other Ravens teammates hoped that Likely would still re-sign in Baltimore even after Andrews was retained, but Likely made it clear that he was ready to test the market.<\/p>\n
Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta said he was negotiating with Likely’s camp last year as well as Andrews’, but a deal never materialized with Likely, who had a tough season. Likely suffered a foot injury at the start of training camp and posted career-lows in receptions (27), receiving yards (307), and touchdowns (one).<\/p>\n
However, Likely was an obvious playmaking talent, and the Ravens will have to replace that in their offense moving forward. There is a sizeable crop of receiving tight ends in this year’s draft class.<\/p>\n
