In addition to the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles have also called the Steelers about Queen, per the Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris.

“Sounds like Pittsburgh is hunting down a mid-round pick,” Harris tweeted late Monday night. “I personally think the best they can get is a fifth-rounder which would work in Dallas’ favor (can’t really give up a 4 or better). We’ll keep a pulse on it. Nothing imminent, but worth monitoring at this point.

Cowboys have been largely wiped out at LB. Been a tough day there in Dallas, no other way to put it.

I’m keeping an eye on Patrick Queen at the moment. A handful of teams have called Pittsburgh about a trade here (including the Eagles). Dallas has kept a hand in that mix for…

— Nick Harris (@NickHarrisFWST) March 10, 2026

NFL Network’s Jane Slater has also noted Dallas’ interest in Queen, referring to it as a situation “I’m watching.”

Queen is entering the final year of the three-year, $41 million deal he signed before the 2024 season. That makes him a one-year rental and impacts his trade value. He’s also had two up-and-down seasons with Pittsburgh. Harris notes the Steelers are “hunting” a mid-round pick in return while believing Dallas giving up anything more than a fifth-rounder is an overpay.

Dallas has spent the first day of the legal tampering period unsuccessfully pursuing free agent off-ball linebackers. Nakobe Dean, Quay Walker, Devin Bush, Tremaine Edmunds, and Devin Lloyd have all agreed to deals elsewhere. That’s putting the Cowboys in the trade market, though it seems they don’t want to give up anything more than a mid/late Day Three selection.

The Eagles could also use help after losing Dean to the Las Vegas Raiders. Queen could find more success behind a beefy Philadelphia front featuring Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter, who could keep Queen clean and chasing the ball under well-respected defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

If Queen is traded, Pittsburgh will have its own hole at inside linebacker. Re-signing Cole Holcomb and likely retaining Malik Harrison gives the Steelers internal depth, but neither are full-time starters.

Pittsburgh could look towards what’s left in free agency, Leo Chenal and Kaden Elliss are the top names available as of this writing, or a strong draft class at the position. At the NFL Combine, the team met with Cincinnati’s Jake Golday while Texas Tech’s Jacob Rodriguez could also fit with a Day Two selection.

For now, Queen remains a Steeler. But with so much trade smoke blowing, it seems more than plausible a deal could soon be made.

The NFC East has a growing interest in Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen.
