The NYPD bomb squad investigated a suspicious item<\/a> near Gracie Mansion and evacuated an adjacent park Tuesday, just four days after thwarting a terror attack<\/a> there \u2014 only to later deem the container and its liquid nonhazardous, according to cops and law-enforcement sources.<\/p>\n

\u201cUPDATE: The device in Carl Schurz Park has been cleared and determined to be non-threatening,\u201d the NYPD said in a tweet.<\/a> \u201cThis was an instance of everyday New Yorkers following a clear message: If you see something, say something. Call 888-NYC-SAFE.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cops responded to East 86th Street near East End Avenue on the Upper East Side in Manhattan around midday after reports of a suspect container on the promenade there, law enforcement sources said.<\/p>\n

The NYPD bomb squad was back on the Upper East Side on Tuesday to investigate another suspicious package near Gracie Mansion. Citizen App<\/p>\n

Cops responded to East 86th Street near East End Avenue on the Upper East Side in Manhattan around midday after reports of a suspect container on the promenade there, law enforcement sources said. Citizen App<\/p>\n

The nearby Carl Schurz Park was evacuated as the investigation continued. Gracie Mansion, where the mayor lives, was not evacuated, officials said.<\/p>\n

The item turned out to be a large jar similar to those used for protein powder, with camouflage tape around the body and black or gray tape around the top.<\/p>\n

X-rays showed that the container, which was discovered in tall grass by a park attendant, had liquid inside.<\/p>\n

Authorities later said it was not a danger and did not contain any hazardous material. They did not elaborate.<\/p>\n

The tense situation came after\u00a0two radicalized Pennsylvania teens<\/a> tried to pull off an ISIS-inspired bombing outside the mayor\u2019s residence nearby, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The new suspicious package appeared near Gracie Mansion just four days after a pair of radicalized teens were charged with hurling an IED near NYC Mayor Mamdani\u2019s residence on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Citizen App<\/p>\n

Suspects Ibrahim Kayumi<\/a>, 19, and Emir Balat, 18, are being held at the federal Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

Both teens claimed they were inspired<\/a> to try to launch an attack by the international terror group and hoped to claim more victims than the three people killed in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing<\/a>, according to a five-count criminal complaint unsealed Monday.<\/p>\n
