Mayor Zohran Mamdani was introduced by an Israel-hating community organizer with a history of inflammatory rhetoric \u2013 including calls to \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d \u2013 during a Ramadan event at a Staten Island mosque, according to a report.<\/p>\n

The mayor joined Abdullah Akl, co-director of public affairs and civic engagement with the Muslim American Society of New York, at the March 4 event, the Washington Free Beacon<\/a> reported Monday.<\/p>\n

Akl said he was \u201cexcited to announce the new mayor of New York City\u201d as Mamdani appeared on stage at the\u00a0Muslim American Society\u2019s Staten Island mosque, according to video obtained by the outlet.<\/p>\n

Since the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel and the ensuing war in Gaza, Akl has publicly spouted off a series of incendiary statements, according to a review of his social media and watchdog groups.<\/p>\n

He was captured on video chanting \u201cStrike, strike Tel Aviv, Abu Obeida, our beloved,\u201d during a spring 2024 demonstration, according to the Free Beacon, apparently in reference to the spokesperson for Hamas\u2019 military wing who was killed in the conflict in Gaza<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Canary Mission, which documents hate against Israel and the Jewish community, also noted<\/a> the sickening chant.<\/p>\n

The agitator, in November 2023, led chants of \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d while standing on a subway seat among other anti-Israel protesters, according to video he posted on his Instagram page.<\/p>\n

At a MAS convention in December 2023, he called for Palestine to be free \u201cfrom the river to sea,\u201d a controversial phrase viewed by some as urging for the destruction of Israel.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is such a privilege and a pleasure \u2026 to be here with all\u00a0of you,\u201d Mamdani said at the MAS mosque last week, according to video cited by the Free Beacon.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it\u2019s an honor to be here as the first Muslim mayor in our city\u2019s history.\u201d<\/p>\n

The mayor\u2019s office did not respond to a request for comment from The Post Tuesday. Attempts to reach Akl were unsuccessful.<\/p>\n

Mamdani previously said he would discourage protesters from using the \u201cglobalize the intifada\u201d phrase and that he does not use it himself.<\/p>\n
