NEW YORK – The Columbia lacrosse team’s non-conference schedule continues on Wednesday with a showdown against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Rider at Kraft Field. First draw is scheduled for 3 p.m.<\/p>\n

\nThe Lions opened Ivy League play last Saturday afternoon with a 16-6 loss to No. 12\/6\u00a0Yale at Reese Stadium.

The Ivy League’s leading scorer Cecelia Messner<\/a> led the Lions offensively with three goals, recording her fourth hat trick of the season. Emma Row<\/a>, Anna Becker<\/a> and Maddie Brogan<\/a> each added a goal for Columbia, while Michelle Zhai<\/a> paced the offense with three assists.<\/p>\n In goal,\u00a0Ava Kimche<\/a>\u00a0delivered a standout performance, recording a career-high 15 saves while facing a potent Yale offense.<\/p>\n Several Lions also continued to climb the program record book. Cordelia Flemming<\/a> now ranks eighth in Columbia history with 103 career draw controls. Messner cracked the program’s top 10 in both career goals (98) and assists (45), the latter tying former teammate\u00a0Dani Falcone<\/a>\u00a0for eighth all-time. She also now ranks seventh in program history with 143 career points.<\/p>\n \nSCOUTING RIDER Last season, the Broncs\u00a0finished 8-10 overall with a -5\u00a0record in MAAC\u00a0play. Rider was\u00a0picked to finish 10th\u00a0in the 2026 MAAC\u00a0Preseason Poll.<\/p>\n Wednesday’s contest marks the first-ever meeting between the Lions and Broncs\u00a0in program history.<\/p>\n Hannah Kozik leads Rider with 14 goals on the season. Kayleigh\u00a0Colleary has a team-high 21 points. \nThe Broncs enter Wednesday’s\u00a0matchup with Columbia sporting a 1-7 record in 2026, including a 19-11 loss to Lehigh\u00a0last time out. Rider’s win came over FDU in its season opener on February 6.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\nColumbia will head west for its annual trip to California this weekend, with a matchup against San Diego State on tap for Sunday at 3 p.m. Eastern.<\/p>\n
