As Opening Day gets closer, teams across baseball need to ensure that guys are ready to go. Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets<\/a> is a player they need out there every game, but it\u2019ll only happen if he\u2019s healthy.<\/p>\n

According to Will Sammon, Lindor\u2019s availability for the start of the season remains somewhat uncertain following offseason surgery.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is strange not to list Lindor as a lock. He is questionable for the start of the season after surgery on his left hamate bone.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople within the Mets, including Stearns, remain optimistic that Lindor will be ready for Opening Day. Over the last two weeks, Lindor has ramped up baseball activities,\u201d he wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite that uncertainty, the Mets remain optimistic about Lindor\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n

As Sammon said, over the past two weeks, Lindor has done more as he works his way back toward game action. Having him play a few games in Spring Training will be very important.<\/p>\n

According to Sammon, David Stearns said that Lindor playing in Spring Training is \u201ca prerequisite\u201d for him to be on the Opening Day roster.<\/p>\n

For the Mets, having Lindor available from day one is about as important as anything.<\/p>\n
