REHOVOT, Israel \u2014 Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon on Wednesday launched 100 rockets at Israel \u2014 overwhelming Israel\u2019s lauded Iron Dome system<\/a> so much that only half were shot down, an Israel Defense Force source exclusively told The Post.<\/p>\n

In response, the IDF is preparing a ground invasion into Lebanon, the source said Wednesday. The attacks from Iran\u2019s proxy militant group and counter assault from Israel mark a new front in the ongoing US-Israeli joint military mission that the US has dubbed Operation Epic Fury.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe IDF will not tolerate any harm to Israeli civilians and will forcibly respond against any threat posed to the State of Israel,\u201d an Israel Defense Forces spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

\"LongHezbollah launched 100 rockets at Israel Wednesday, according to IDF sources.<\/p>\n

The incoming from Lebanon has put Israel\u2019s missile defense system to the test, with rockets not being taken out. It\u2019s unclear what damage has been caused in Israel or the scale of a possible Israeli ground operation in response.<\/p>\n

The Israeli Air Force is striking ready-to-launch projectile launchers and additional infrastructure sites belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization across Lebanon, according to a statement from the IDF.<\/p>\n

The escalation comes on the 12th day of the most recent war with Iran \u2013 and its proxies \u2013 that has the support militarily of the United States<\/a>. Israel\u2019s last major war with Iran in June lasted 12 days.<\/p>\n

Israelis throughout Wednesday braced for escalated attacks from Lebanon \u2014 and possibly the Houthis in Yemen. The public has been asked to follow the ongoing alerts and guidelines for sheltering.<\/p>\n

An Israeli official described the Wednesday Hezbollah strikes as a \u201csuicide mission\u201d on their behalf \u2014 knowing that the IDF would retaliate. Iran\u2019s weapons supplies have run low from both launches on Israel and destruction by US and Israeli forces over the past 12 days.<\/p>\n

So far, the Houthis have not fired at Israel in the current war \u2014 leading Israelis to worry the Iranian proxy group is saving its weapons supply for a massive barrage all at once.<\/p>\n

While Iran has launched counterattacks<\/a> since the Feb. 28 war began against at least 10 Gulf nations \u2013 including US military stationed there \u2013 Iran has excluded Yemen, the home base to the Houthis.<\/p>\n

While the Houthis so far have not joined the war, they have warned in official messages that their \u201cfinger is on the trigger,<\/a>\u201d according to a Thursday report by the Atlantic Council.<\/p>\n
