The viral photo of Assistant Chief Aaron Edwards<\/a> jumping over a metal barricade simply exemplifies the courage and training of every uniformed and plainclothes member of New York\u2019s Finest (\u201cPolice chief\u2019s an action hero,\u201d<\/a> March 11).<\/p>\n Mayor Mamdani should not only praise our police, but also hire more to make citizens even safer.<\/p>\n Kim F. Cody<\/p>\n Whitestone<\/p>\n While I heartily applaud Chief Edwards and the other police officers who risked their lives to safeguard Gracie Mansion to capture those two miscreants with their terrorist actions, I can\u2019t help thinking, why?<\/p>\n This mayor despises the police and other law-enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n If he thinks he needn\u2019t hire more police \u2014 which we must have in today\u2019s political climate \u2014 let him do his own thing and protect himself.
