PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (WCAX) – The Clinton County Republican Committee chair says there are no prospective candidates for the 115th Assembly seat as of Friday.<\/p>\n
Former New York State Police Major Brent Davison narrowly lost the election for the seat<\/a> to Michael Cashman last year and has since announced he will run for Clinton County sheriff instead.<\/a><\/p>\n Malone Mayor Andrea Dumas, who sought the Republican nomination for the Assembly seat but was not supported by the party, said she has no interest in pursuing state office.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve put 10 years in learning the process to get to the state level, and now I am just realizing I should have been the first option,\u201d Dumas said.<\/p>\n Copyright 2026 WCAX.
