A driver who allegedly struck and killed a Queens actor in Midtown toward the end of last year is now facing charges for the crash, police said.<\/p>\n
NYPD officials said 62-year-old MD Abdul Shomuz was behind the wheel of a Cadillac SUV when he hit 60-year-old Wendy Davis at the intersection of West 53rd Street and Broadway on Dec. 8. While he stayed at the scene and was not immediately arrested at that time, the Bronx man is being charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian after turning himself in to police on Monday morning, according to the NYPD.<\/p>\n
Police said Davis, whose credits include \u201cThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel\u201d TV series, was crossing Broadway just before 9 p.m. when Shomuz collided with her as he made a left turn from West 53rd Street, heading south. She sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai West hospital, officials said.<\/p>\n
Davis, who went by Wenne Alton Davis and lived in Forest Hills, had played supporting roles in a variety of TV<\/a> shows, including \u201cNew Amsterdam\u201d and \u201cBlindspot,\u201d according to her actor bio online. In one of her last on-screen appearances, she played a police officer in an episode of Amazon Prime Video\u2019s \u201cThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel\u201d<\/a> that aired in 2023.<\/p>\n
