Todd Faustin, 43, of Coram pleaded guilty to making a false health care statement in connection to a claim made about an incident at Rikers Island, according to the New York State Department of Investigation.<\/p>\n
He agreed to pay both restitution and forfeiture, each to the amount of $370,336.79.<\/p>\n
The DOI looked into Faustin’s claim after several New York City agencies reported excessive worker’s compensation claims made by city correction officers.<\/p>\n
Faustin said he was injured while on duty during an incident that required the use of force against Rikers Island prisoners. He received at least $370, 336.79 in benefits not owed to him, DOI said.<\/p>\n
He resigned from his post effective March 17 and was suspended during the investigation. <\/p>\n
His annual salary was approximately $109, 350. He started his employment with the City Department of Correction in 2011.<\/p>\n
