The collision was so severe that debris hurtled through the air, striking a 25-year-old pedestrian nearby.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Despite the impact, police reported, the Acura driver did not stop and instead sped away from the scene.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-231831\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/DSC_4784.jpg\" alt=\"shoe on scene of hit and run\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\"  \/>Debris and the boy\u2019s shoe were left on the scene after the crash. Photo by Lloyd Mitchell\n<\/p>\n<p>Both victims were rushed to Maimonides Medical Center, where the 11-year-old is listed in critical condition. The 25-year-old suffered minor injuries to his leg.<\/p>\n<p>The black Acura was later found abandoned in Ocean Parkway and Avenue R, police said.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>Pieces of the child\u2019s destroyed scooter could be seen scattered around the crash site as members of the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad investigated on Monday night. A sneaker was also spotted in the middle of the rain-slick roadway.<\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.\u00a0<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-231839\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/DSC_4760.jpg\" alt=\"scooter after crash\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\"  \/>The child\u2019s scooter lay in the grass after the crash.Photo by Lloyd Mitchell\n<\/p>\n<p>The crash occurred just blocks from the devastating Ocean Parkway crash that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/ocean-parkway-crash-manslaughter-indictment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">killed<\/a> a 34-year-old mother and two of her children on March 29. Ocean Parkway has seen dozens of crashes this year, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/assets\/nypd\/downloads\/pdf\/traffic_data\/bkacc.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">NYPD statistics<\/a>, and at least one other pedestrian has been injured in a crash at the intersection of Avenue V this year. According to data compiled by CrashMapper, at least 35 people have been injured in 15 different crashes at the intersection in the past five years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information regarding the driver\u2019s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA).
