HAMDEN, Conn. \u2013\u00a0The Quinnipiac baseball team will return to conference play this weekend, heading to Pomona, New York, to take on the Manhattan Jaspers for a three-game set.

\n\u00a0

\nThe first game of the series is slated to start at 3 PM on ESPN+. Game two from Clover Stadium is scheduled for a 6:30 PM start, while the series finale will be played at noon on Sunday, March 22nd. All three contests can be seen on ESPN+.

\nLAST TIME OUT
\n \n<\/p>\n


\n\tThe Bobcats took down in-state rival Yale, 15-9, in their midweek contest on Wednesday, March 18th, in Hamden. \u00a0\u00a0
\n\tYale jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead after the first inning and led 9-2 halfway through the contest.
\n\tQuinnipiac’s bats got hot in the fifth inning, scoring 11 runs to jump out in front. Brayden Hromada<\/a> put an exclamation point on the inning, smashing a three-run home run to put the Bobcats in front for the first time of the afternoon.
\n\tThe Bobcats tacked on another three runs in the seventh inning before shutting down the Bulldogs to earn their sixth win of the season. \u00a0 <\/p>\n

\nHISTORY VS. MANHATTAN<\/p>\n


\n\tFriday’s matchup will mark the 27th time the Bobcats and Jaspers will face off since March 15th, 2001. \u00a0
\n\tQuinnipiac leads the all-time series, 17-9.
\n\tThe Bobcats have lost their last two contests against the Jaspers, falling in their three-game series last season (March 28-30, 2025).
\n\tQuinnipiac won the series opener, 16-5, before dropping the final two contests of the series. <\/p>\n

\nSCOUTING THE JASPERS<\/p>\n


\n\tThe Manhattan Jaspers hold a 6-11 overall record and a 1-5 conference record so far this season.
\n\tThe Jaspers won their first conference game of the season, defeating the Marist Red Foxes, 12-10 (March 6), before dropping their next six MAAC contests.
\n\tLast time out, the Jaspers got swept by the Fairfield Stags on the road. Manhattan was outscored 22-8 in the series.
\n\tColin Basehore leads the Manhattan offense with a .362 batting average in 16 games this season. Basehore has started 15 of those games and has recorded three home runs and nine RBIs so far this season.
\n\tAmong the seven different starters for the Manhattan pitching staff, Connor Throneberry has started the most games (5) so far this season. Throneberry holds a 9.14 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched. Throneberry has recorded 26 strikeouts and has allowed 22 earned runs this year. <\/p>\n

\nPRESEASON ACCOLADES<\/p>\n


\n\tThe Quinnipiac Baseball team was picked to finish 3rd in the MAAC Preseason Poll after last season ended in the MAAC Semifinal round against the Rider Broncs.\u00a0
\n\tChristian Smith<\/a> was named to the Preseason All-MAAC team as he returns to Hamden.
\n\tSmith finished the year with a .329 batting average in 56 contests. Smith tied for the team lead in home runs with 15 and led the Bobcats with 67 runs batted in.
\n\tSmith had a tremendous MAAC Tournament last season, finishing the week with a .375 clip (6-for-16), while driving in nine runs in the five games in Pomona, earning him a nod on the All-Tournament team. <\/p>\n

\nKEY RETURNERS<\/p>\n


\n\tThe Bobcats return 19 players from last year’s team, with of those players seeing game action.
\n\tOf those returners, nine are pitchers: J.C. Franconere<\/a>, Sam Wright<\/a>, Griffin Seibel<\/a>, Mike Poncini<\/a>, Matt Alduino<\/a>, Nick Balcom<\/a>, Andrew Rubayo<\/a>, Josh Lajoie<\/a>, and Mason Ulsh<\/a>.
\n\tTen position players return: Cole Constable<\/a>, Kyle Garbowski<\/a>, Sam Ametrano<\/a>, Christian Smith<\/a>, Alex Irizarry<\/a>, Luke Zeisloft<\/a>, James Marino<\/a>, Matt Park<\/a>, Ian Nilsen<\/a>, and Christian Nilsen<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\nLOTS OF NEW FACES<\/p>\n


\n\tQuinnipiac welcomes 16 new faces to its campus this season.
\n\tThe Bobcats used the transfer portal to bring in sophomore right-handed pitcher Maddex Labuda<\/a> (Liberty), junior outfield\/first baseman Jack Balcer<\/a> (Widener), senior right-handed pitcher James Pazdera<\/a>, and graduate outfielder Brendan Edvardsen<\/a> (AIC).
\n\tQuinnipiac also brought in 12 first years, with six being pitchers and six being position players, Peyton Vancas<\/a> (Pleasant Gap, Pa.), Timothy Park<\/a> (Bridgewater, NJ.), Chase Camac<\/a> (Northfield, NJ.), Caden Williamson<\/a> (Broomfield, Co.), Teagan Beames<\/a> (New Fairfield, Conn.), Brayden Hromada<\/a> (Center Moriches, NY.), Joseph Hiller<\/a> (Center Moriches, NY.), Kevin Rusinak<\/a> (Manalapan, NJ.), Ethan Freed<\/a> (Limerick, Pa.), Frank Orrei<\/a> (Verona, NJ.), Langdon Hazen<\/a> (Underhill, VT.), and Jacob Belecky<\/a> (Komoka, Ontario, Canada). <\/p>\n
