Kyle Besse of the Norwich Police Department.

Besse said the New York City Police Department holds a warrant for Caballero charging him with second-degree murder in connection with a shooting in the Bronx, New York on Feb. 11. He was charged as a fugitive from justice and with interfering with an officer.

Caballero was held in lieu of a $1 million bond and was set to face a judge. His extradition to New York is pending.

According to Besse, authorities found that Caballero was in Norwich after police came into contact with 19-year-old Zion Martinez on March 4, just before 12:20 p.m., and learned that he was wanted by police in New York on a second-degree murder charge tied to the Bronx shooting.
