Emmy Award nominee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/stars-on-stage\/lea-michele\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lea Michele<\/a> will depart <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/show\/44447-chess\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chess<\/a> on Broadway on June 21. A replacement in her role of Florence Vassy will be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Michele (Spring Awakening, Funny Girl on Broadway, Glee) currently stars opposite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/stars-on-stage\/aaron-tveit\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aaron Tveit<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/stars-on-stage\/nicholas-christopher\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nicholas Christopher<\/a> in the musical about two world chess champions, who also battle off the chessboard for the woman caught between them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For those who go to Broadway musicals hoping to hear actors perform songs so powerfully you get goosebumps, you\u2019ll find that three times over,&#8221; New York Theatre Guide&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/reviews\/chess-broadway-review-aaron-tveit-lea-michele-nicholas-christopher\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chess review<\/a> reads.<\/p>\n<p>The 1988 musical, now revived for the first time at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newyorktheatreguide.com\/venues\/imperial-theatre\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Imperial Theatre<\/a>, features a new book by Danny Strong and a score by Tim Rice and ABBA&#8217;s Benny Andersson and Bj\u00f6rn Ulvaeus, based on an idea by Rice. Michael Mayer directs.<\/p>\n<p>A new block of Chess tickets will be released next week.
